Newborn
If you’re reading this, you probably have a baby the size of a loaf of bread sleeping on your chest.
And dammit, that’s adorable. If you’ve decided to check out my website of all things, while your baby is sleeping, I am truly honored. I know how precious that nap time is.
Newborn sessions, in my opinion, are just as much for the sanity of the new parents as they are to get cute photos of your baby while they’re still teeny tiny. I remember how isolating newborn life is, and sometimes it just feels good to talk to another adult who isn’t part of your family. That’s where I come in! I usually schedule newborn sessions for mid morning, and bring coffee and some kind of treat for the sleepy parents. Then I like to start in the nursery (if it’s set up) and document some details while you get baby ready.
When it comes time to photograph your little one, I’ll give you some direction here and there, but my goal for my newborn sessions is for it to feel very natural and laid-back. If baby is awake and wanting to be held, that’s when we can do some photos with parents. When they’re milk-drunk and sleepy, that’s when we’ll do some individual photos and little baby details.
DO feel free to use me as your sounding board when it comes to newborn life. I’m not an expert by any means, but sometimes it’s nice to just talk to a fellow mom.
DON’T you dare deep-clean your house before I come for the session! It’s not necessary at all. I can make rooms look cleaner than they really are, and I’ll move things if I need do. I don’t want you stressing yourself out over the state of your house mere days after having a baby!
DO wear clothing that has neutral tones. Bright colors can leave a color-cast on baby’s skin in pictures where they’re being held.
DON’T worry if your baby is fussy, or if siblings/pets are rowdy. I am used to all kinds of personalities from different ages of kids during photoshoots. I’m not going to judge you or feel uncomfortable if your kids are upset or if your baby is crying. I have no problem just giving everyone a breather and coming back in a few minutes to resume the session if that’s what is needed.
DO text me with any questions you have regarding your session. I know your time is precious, and sometimes its just easier to shoot off a text.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHIC STYLE?
My wedding photography style could best be described as "lifestyle," which is a spin-off of documentary photography, with the addition of a little bit of posing. I enjoy being a "fly on the wall" and catching moments as they happen, but occasionally I have to step in and tweak little details here and there to get the best photograph.
WHAT HAPPENS IF WE NEED TO RESCHEDULE THE SESSION DUE TO AN ILLNESS?
I will never charge a rescheduling fee, don’t you worry. Taking care of a newborn is tough enough, you don’t need to worry about a fee for rescheduling your session. I just ask that you please let me know earlier than 24 hours before the session so that I can plan accordingly.
If the payment schedule I lay out doesn’t work for you and you need a more extensive payment plan, just let me know! I can help you come up with something that works with your financial situation.
DO YOU OFFER PAYMENT PLANS?
The deposit for a couples session is $100, due when you sign the contract. The remaining balance is due the day before the session.
HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK?
CAN SIBLINGS/PETS/FAMILY MEMBERS BE IN THE SESSION?
Absolutely!! If they’re in the house during the session and they want to be a part of it, I will totally photograph them.
WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY
NEWBORN SESSION?
Typically, newborn sessions are scheduled for when baby is about 1-3 weeks old, but it’s totally okay if they’re a bit older!
