Shannon + Deanna | Beach Maternity Session

When Shannon and Deanna told me they wanted to do their maternity session on the beach, it was no surprise to me. Baby Adalynn's nursery is mermaid-themed, so it makes perfect sense for her mommies to feel right at home next to the ocean. They didn't even bat an eye when I told them the best time to have a beach session is at sunrise, a time that most people hate seeing on a Saturday.

We arrived at Atlantic Beach at 7:03am and it was slightly chilly, with a little bit of a breeze, but that was no surprise, considering the kind of winter we've had (or not had) in Florida this year. Just like my previous session with them (the baby announcement, check it out here!), Shannon and Deanna fell into their poses with grace and poise, and were so comfortable in front of the camera, it made my job incredibly easy. Deanna's dress was so beautiful and flowy, with a slit in the front to expose her belly. She wore a hand-made flower crown with a beachy twist, and Shannon matched with a starfish boutonniere. The two looked like they belonged in the ocean.

A "rainbow baby" is a baby that is born after a miscarriage. This pregnancy is extremely important to Shannon and Deanna because Adalynn is their rainbow baby. They've wanted to start a family for years, and they're overwhelmed with excitement over the reality that Adalynn will be here in just a few weeks!

They created this rainbow seashell piece to not only represent Adalynn as the rainbow baby, but all the babies before her who are watching over her.
